Mangalore lies on the southern side of the Arabian Sea and is a lush and friendly town. The landscape is spotted with buildings topped with famous Mangalore red clay tiles. Mangalore is in close proximity to several important temples, including the Mangladevi temple that reputedly gave Mangalore its name and the dargah of Seyyid Mohammed Shareeful Madani, to which, according to local legend, any animal dedicated to the saint and released anywhere in India will find its way.
